Aptera Italy might plan to set up a production plant in southern Italy.


    Aptera Owners Club remains a main source for discoveries. The channel most recent discussed an article by Italian paper La Republica wich states that Aptera Italy could build up a production plant in southern Italy with the help of Italian or EU funding. While this is still speculative it could mean a lot to us EU customers. And I have a reason to post this mocked up visual of me collecting my Aptera in Italy and bring it home over the alps ;)

    Would not surprise me as tax incentives or support packages a.k.a. money is usually tied to restrictions such as investments to a specific region or country. It's basically economic development money for the own region / country.


    In Germany there are regions in which the traditional car manufacturers are shutting their factories down and leaving a skilled but now unemployed workforce behind. They are very much interested in companies like Aptera to build a plant there and would go a long way to get them invested there.


    I am just not sure how much focus Aptera has on Europe right now besides getting all parts created and shipped to California.

    Just listened to the US Capital video stream for investors and the host picked a question from Wolfgang Ptacek who asked: "What about deliveries to Europe? Concrete plans for a assmembly factory in Italy?"

    The response from the CEOs was that (understandably) they would have to solve homogenization issues first BUT as I understood it, they confirmed that the Italian government might help them with building a factory in Italy AND … Aptera actively visited six locations in Italy with one just outside Naples.

    I consider this as big news for us (!) … (I am personally not super-optimistic about getting the Aptera road legal, on the similar reasons a Cybertruck but might get prohibited in EU) … but they have plans for a European micro factory already. That is more than I thought they had done at this state of development. I think Steve Frambo really enjoyed Italien food and dolce vita.

    Aptera Motors steht wohl relativ kurz vor einem Vertragsabschluss für eine Fabrik in der Nähe von Neapel, Italien. Mal sehen, welche Infos dazu bald herauskommen.

    Das Thema Homologation wurde nur kurz gestreift, aber ohne Neuigkeiten.

    Inzwischen hat AOC das Webinar hochgeladen ...

    Klasse, danke. Ich hatte die Frage auch so ähnlich gepostet aber toll, dass sie deine dann aufgegriffen haben. In dem Zusammenhang wundert es mich immer noch, dass sie sich vor dem Bau der Vorproduktionsmodelle schon um italienische Fertigungsstätten kümmern können.

    Nach den letzten Volten um den Antrieb würde es mich nicht wundern, dass sollte – aus irgendwelchen Gründen – die Herstellung in Neapel günstiger sein und in Carlsbad ausfallen, evt. Neapel für die USA produzieren könnte.

Still wondering, how they find the time searching for Italian locations while being buisy building PI builds. Might as well be another fallback option like: if on whatever reason Carlsbad manufacturing does not materialise Naples could end up making the cars for the US.
